EmperorLinux introduces the Koala X1 line of ultra-portable laptop computers. The Koala is based on the new Dell Latitude X1 series of laptops. At only 2.5 pounds and less than 1" thick, the X1 is a joy to carry, while still making room for a 1100 MHz Pentium-M 733, 30-60 GB hard drive, up to 1280 MB RAM, wireless ethernet, and more. As with all our Dells, several customization options are available. Dell is discontinuing their Latitude X300 series at this time. |

The EmperorLinux Molecule was slashdotted this morning, as word of Sharp's upgraded AL3D continues to grow. The Molecule is what we call our desktop replacement based on the Sharp Actius AL3D laptop, the latest generation of their auto-stereo 3D notebook. Several slashdotters mention the stir that the new Molecule caused at LinuxWorld in Boston last month.

EmperorLinux introduces Sharp's next generation of 3D LCD laptops as the Molecule AL3D. Sharp's 3D LCD technology makes it possible to view 3D images without glasses; because the hard work is done by the LCD hardware, the 3D effect works under Linux. The well-equipped Molecule comes with an 1866 MHz Pentium-M, NVidia graphics, an 80 GB SATA hard drive, 1 GB of RAM, and a DVD+/-RW drive.
The Molecule made quite a splash last month at LinuxWorld in Boston running a demo of the chemistry software PyMOL (kindly provided for us by DeLano Scientific). |

LinuxWorld Expo Boston Wrap-Up | |
The Emperor team has returned from their trek to the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in Boston last week. We spoke with a variety of people about what new laptops they'd like to see us offer, tips and tricks, and fascinating laptop features coming in the near future.
Several people (including NewsForge, Groklaw, and OSNews) noted the upcoming successor to the Molecule. We enjoyed the chance to explore a new city and another opportunity to meet with customers past, present, and future!

EmperorLinux Gazelle, SilverComet and Kiwi Model Upgrades | |
Sony recently upgraded several systems in our product line. The Gazelle has made the jump to the Sony VAIO A2x0 series, the SilverComet has leapt to the Sony VAIO S2x0 series, and the Kiwi has moved on to the Sony VAIO T2x0 series. For the most part, this change means the availability of larger hard drives; please see the individual products' pages for details. Over the next few weeks, we'll slowly be phasing out the 1x0 series of these systems and phasing in their newer counterparts. |
